New Music Commission Project
In celebration of Russel C. Mikkelson’s career as a faculty member at The Ohio State University School of Music, distinguished American composer James M. Stephenson has been commissioned to create a new composition.
The 25–30 minute work for winds and percussion — his Symphony No. 6 — will be conducted by Mikkelson at his final on-campus concert, Friday, April 23, 2027 in Weigel Auditorium.

The Annual Music Scholarships and Awards Fund provides miscellaneous scholarships and awards from yearly and/or one-time gifts.
The School of Music Ensemble Travel Fund supports travel expenses that enable the school's ensembles to perform on major stages in the United States and abroad, with emphasis on the Opus 88 project in Ohio.
The Community Music School Fund supports the CMS with financial aid, engagement and programs.
