  • DMA, Trumpet Performance, University of North Carolina–Greensboro

Kurt Phelps received his DMA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. While at UNCG, he served as a graduate assistant where he taught graduates and undergraduates, trumpet ensemble, and coached a student brass quintet. Alongside those duties, he was a member of the Graduate Brass Quintet and has taken part in educational concerts across the Greensboro community. Following his studies, Phelps taught music classes at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, served as the high brass instructor at the Music Academy of North Carolina, and was the Director of Bands and Choirs at Providence Grove High School.

Phelps also serves the nation through music. He is a soldier in the 208th Army Band stationed in Concord, NC. He has had the pleasure of performing in various military, veteran and civilian functions throughout the United States.

As a native Floridian, Phelps has performed as a marching toy soldier at the Magic Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World. He also performed as the first trumpet for the Penguin Brass Quintet at SeaWorld Orlando. Kurt was also a founding member of the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra and the Space Coast Oratorio Society.
